Star Guardian Lulu from League of Legends by MicCostumes

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

Costume available for purchase directly through MicCostumes for $59.99USD (+shipping) in Womens XS-XL, though I purchased mine on Amazon because yknow how it it is with buying stuff on Amazon, ESPECIALLY if it's available with one day delivery through Prime. Impulse buy? I have no idea what you're talking about. Nooope. Here's everything it comes with: ears, headband, hair clips, hair bow, top, bow for the top, skirt, boot accessories, and gloves. It arrived in a box, had a plastic bag and all the pieces were wrapped in tissue paper to prevent damage and scuffing. So if you'd like to get up close and personal with this costume, read on~ also please note: I haven't ironed or fixed any of these pieces, this is what it looks like straight out of the bag.

Top + Bow

Uh, so I'm not sure what type of fabric this is as it's nothing I've worked with before, but their site says it's Polyester which could be a number of things. LOL If anyone knows please yell at me in the comments, thanks! I will say it is really nice though, it's soft and has a nice sheen to it which works perfect for magical girls. I really do wish that the top was lined, you can kinda see through it :/ so I'd suggest wearing a white short sleeve baby tee underneath. Maybe it's just me but I feel the front center and back detail look a bit crooked, I feel like it's throwing me off, I tried to take those photos straight on dead center too. Anyways. I think the gold detail is nice and it has an invisible zipper in the back.

Top Bow

Here's some close up shots of the bow that attaches to the top, I think it's interesting that the stars are plastic and 3D. Unfortunately the star was attached crooked, and attached using hot glue so I'm not sure how sturdy it will be, looking at reviews it seems people have had issues with the stars falling off. I'm also not a fan of the clip on the back to attach it to the top, those are always a PAIN to deal with even if you have someone helping you. Also, I think it would be a lot better if the bow was interfaced, it's something I will nitpick after YEARS of making idol anime/game costumes. lol

Skirt

Okay, apparently I didn't take any photos of the skirt just by itself, so here's some detail shots to appreciate the fabric. I know it's hard to tell because it needs a good ironing but they're box pleats and it has an elastic waistband, so if you need to do any adjustments there it'll be a pretty easy fix.

Gloves

Pretty standard turkey gloves xD the fabric's a bit see through, but it does the job. If you're looking to upgrade the gloves I'd recommend checking out WeLoveColors as they've been my go-to for years now.

Boot Bows

I didn't wanna dig through my closet to find my white cosplay boots, so these black fashion boots will have to do. The bow and stars are attached the same way as the bow for the top, except these have elastic so you can slip them over your boots, they'll do the job I guess? ^^; I'm concerned about the elastic snapping plus it being visible on your boots, so maybe finding another way to secure them on would be best.

Ears

These clip on and while the green fur looks to be the same, the pink here looks darker than the one on their site, I also popped the inside out so you could see the stitching, for a cleaner look you could seam rip it and slip stitch it, and iron the seam all around using a press cloth so the pink lays flat.

Hair Accessories

I didn't have a green wig, so all of the hair accessories are carefully pinned to my wig head, but it should at least give you an idea of how everything looks at least. There are 5 pieces total for the hair accessories (bow, 2 hair clips, headband) and I can already see this being a pain in ass to attach everything and keeping it in place unless you have someone to help you.

Hair Bow

This bow looks so sad. LOL Again, I really wish this had interfacing. But! The long pieces have a really heavy wire in them, so they're kind of adjustable.

Hair Clips

I think these are really cute! Made out of vinyl and I could tell there's some batting to help give it dimension.

Headband

This is by far the most interesting piece from the entire costume set. ^^; There's a small channel for a headband to slip through, unfortunately it was a cheap plastic headband which arrived broken. And again with the crooked star that's been hot glued on, they're pretty generous with the hot glue but I'm really not sure how it would hold up in a con setting. The clip in the back is supposed to be for the bow, but I'm not sure how the headband is supposed to support it considering the bow is kinda heavy in comparison. ^^; I do like the gold PVC fabric through, it matches what's used on the top and hair clips.

Okay, so now you're probably wondering why I even bothered purchasing this costume xD;; I was really hoping I could get away with not having to make this from scratch, haha. I honestly probably would have kept it if it fit! I ordered an XS and apparently I'm too small for an XS even though I fit their measurement range for the costume just fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I still think this is still a nice costume over all at a GREAT price, I'm seriously in love with the fabric, and it's pretty much as pictured on their site which is another plus. It always sucks to purchase something and then it looks nothing like the photos online, especially if it ships from China as it can be a pain to return. @.@

Anyways, I hope this helps if you were deciding to purchase this costume, let me know in the comments if it did!
